Like nearly every other plant, cannabis can be grown in more ways than one: indoors or outdoors, in pots or in the ground, under artificial lights or in sunlight.
To learn about the similarities and differences between the three production methods, we spoke to three Québécois, each an expert in one of them: Neil Gallant, Vice-President, Cannabis Operations at 48North, Françoise Lévesque, Master Horticulturist at High Park and Yves Beaumier, Director of Operations at Verdélite.
48North opened its Good Farm in Brant County, Ontario, in 2018. The farm has 4.3 million square feet of fields dedicated to growing cannabis in harmony with the local ecosystem.

High Park has greenhouses covering about 365,000 square feet in Ontario. To take full advantage of natural sunlight, the greenhouses are transparent.
Verdélite has an approximately 88,000 square foot production facility in Saint-Eustache, in Québec’s Montérégie region. Indoor production is done in closed rooms with little or no natural light.
